Betting on Golf can be a bit of a lottery, but it can also be very rewarding if you win. It is possible to bet for free on golf, as there are no exceptions with using free bets when it comes to betting on golf.
In general – unless you were betting on Tiger Woods in his prime – it is a fairly open field and the winner can come from anywhere. The odds on the favourite is usually in double figures, and if you are lucky enough to pick the winner you will almost certainly be quids in.
There are two main tours, the PGA Tour (in America) and the Race To Dubai (formally the European Tour). There is a tour event just about every week, and on many occasions there is an event on both tours. So there is plenty of betting to be done.
There are also four golf majors. They are…….
- US Masters
- US Open
- Open Championship
- USPGA Championship
Bookmakers Traditionally Good For Offering More Than 4 Each-Way Places
On top of these events there is also the Ryder Cup, Solheim Cup, Presidents Cup and the Walker Cup.
The four majors is where most of the golf betting offers will be found though. Bookies will fall over themselves in an attempt to get our business. In the past you would get quarter of the odds for a top 4 finish in the each-way betting, we now see quarter of the odds on a top 5 or 6 finish and on occasions even 7 places, offered at a quarter of the odds.
It is fairly easy to bet for free on golf. Free bets can be used and given the long odds on the majority of players, the smaller free matched bets may be better to use for Golf betting.
There is also the option to use funds raised by matched betting to bet for free on golf. Or you can just keep your eyes peeled in the lead up to one of the major events to see if there is an offer on. There is usually a ‘money back if your selection finishes second to Tiger’ etc.
