Tidal Bay, the 13 year old Paul Nicholls trained, has been given the top weight for the 2014 Crabbie’s Grand National, held at Aintree on April 5th.
This is the same weight given to Tidal Bay as last year, when unfortunately injury prevented him from taking his place on the starting line.
Tiday Bay is currently vying for favouritism amongst the bookmakers with Teaforthree and Monebeg Dude. Different bookmakers seem to have different favourites, at the moment Teaforthree seems to be the overall favourite at a best price of 16/1 with Bet365.
At the moment you can get 20/1 on Tidal Bay with Ladbrokes, and 25/1 on Monbeg Dude, also at Ladbrokes. Both these two seem shorter with most other firms, so I expect these Ladbrokes prices (£50.00 Free Bet for new customers) might not last for too long.
A lot of industry watches seem to think Monbeg Dude may well go off as favourite, due to the fact that he is part owwned by Mike Tindall, husband of Zara Phillips. Given they have a new born baby, a lot of the so called ‘house wife’ bets are expected to land on Monbeg Dude, making him the favourite.
